This is a mock up for a boys room. Interesting how some of the coordinating fabrics did not work in the mock up. Perhaps I should use less items in the hero pattern and use extra art in a different collection? I had around 15 main illustrations in the hero pattern. What is a good number to draw in a hero pattern before fillers? The quilt pattern for example did not translate in the room.

It is a good way to see how balanced the patterns are. I don’t think there is a limit to how many elements you can use in the hero pattern. It is more about where you can apply this pattern. In room decor some patterns are too busy to be used on the wall or large objects.

The hero pattern doesnt seem busy to me. I like the more simple patterns with the foliage on the rug and the elements used on the pillows. I think you balanced it all very well.

Only thing i would change is the face of the bear that appears a bit too wonky. You have a lot of structure in the hero pattern yet this freehand bear contrasts too much with the structure of the other elements. It has to be more stylised and a bit more proportional. I would change the eyes of the bear maybe to dots or two perfect circles that have an iris but identical to each other. Right now it looks a bit crossed eyed. Smaller nose and better defined legs as well.
