I decided to do the folk colors with the coloring book outlines and I spent so many hours trying to figure this out. It may not have been a good combination as the coloring book would probably look better on a light background. If I were to do this again, I would have used more folk looking images. I thought that using these line drawings would be better suited to the coloring book look but it’s not really a direction I would choose again. I created a group for a clip art set and also 4 fabric swatches for Spoonflower. I also stayed away from strictly holiday so I could sell these into January and February.

Hi Bethany, great to see all the motifs you’ve created. I think you have a couple of collections here; the motifs with just the outlines, and another with set with the fill. I remember Sabina recommended in the Foundations class to go with one style, outline or fill. The birds look lovely, quite realistic, and maybe that’s another set to have?

For the patterns, the birds on the dark mulberry background are less easy to see. My favourite pattern swatch is the birds on the pink background, it’s easy to see what’s in the foreground and the background.

Thank you so much Annie! I totally agree with you. I was already thinking I’d do a simplified group for etsy. And I am going to adjust the color of the mulberry. I am actually working on a different style of all of this today– more of a folk look instead of how this turned out. I’m actually very much into simpler images and lighter colors, believe it or not! ;D
